The Challenge
Many users find it challenging to curate and share their musical experiences collaboratively with friends or like-minded individuals.
The disconnect between music enthusiasts and the lack of a unified platform for shared musical experiences.
The Goal
Fostering Musical Connections
Real-time Social Jams
Genre-based Communities
User Research Overview
I conducted user interviews, which I then turned into empathy maps to better understand the target user and their needs. I discovered that many target users treat music listening as a fun and relaxing activity when they need a break from school or work. However, many music streaming apps doesn’t have the sharing feature within the same platform and confusing to navigate, which frustrated many target users. This caused a normally enjoyable experience to become challenging for them, defeating the purpose of music sharing.

User Stories
User stories allow us to map out the 'who' , 'what' and 'why' of the design. It gives us a clear goal to work towards and makes sure that the process remains user centric and actionable.
Problem Statement
Brief descriptions of the design problems were written down in the form of problem statements. They allowed us to define the current and find user-centric solutions. They were used to gauge validity of solutions are create a focus point for the rest of the design process.
Journey Maps
Journey maps allow for us to focus on the actual experience a user may have while interacting with our product. They give us insight into how our customers interact with the product, what they find useful and what they don't like. This allows us to design in a manner that is simpler and easier to use.

Competitive Audit
This method was to comprehend the competition, spot opportunities, and gain an understanding of what competing products are doing well and could do better. We can then use the data from this study to create a strategy that will improve our product's usability and commercial viability.

Competitive Audit Report
Audit Objective - To compare Features, accessibility, and visual design quality of the top 4 existing competitors, and to shortlist 2 major competitors based in similarity of features.

Shortlisted Key Competitors - The key competitors of this product are Spotify and YouTube.  Both products offer similar service and have similar feature of sharing the music on a global scale to this product. Spotify has made a good name for itself in recent times but YouTube is more based on broadcasting and is also one of the known music sharing platforms.
Crazy Eights
This commonly used design sprint method was applied to quickly come up with ideas or features in a short time frame. This allowed any ideas to be purged and put out on the table and then weighed against the research and problem statements.
Storyboards
The key events of a story are chronologically mapped out in a storyboard using images in the form of panels. This lets us understand the context and space a user is in when they encounter the product. It allows us to put ourselves in the users shoes and visually understand their story.
